Anyway, I'm finally killing time a little more productively this week (FINALLY!). Last Monday, my cousins and I went wall-climbing in the subdivision clubhouse, where they ordered two 28-foot wallclimbing-walls (?) which seemed to serve as a temporary fund-raiser for the clubhouse. Fortunately enough, they charged fairly, and my younger cousins and I got to climb thrice. It was a bad idea for me though to skip breakfast and lunch and go straight to the clubhouse at 4pm because although my first try got me all the way up easily, my second had me resting in the middle of the climb for almost a good minute. Mustering all the strength I had left I eventually made it to the randomly shaped rock at the top, but not without feeling completely drained. Hindi ko na alam kung pano ako nakaabot sa pangatlong akyat. Grabe talaga yun... but it was an experience especially since this was supposedly taller than the one in EK, which I only got to climb once last year. It was also amazing to see my small 6-year-old cousin VR and 11-year-old cousin Paul climb expertly all the way up in a flash without even hesitating. They even climbed up barefoot once. Galing.
After this and a late lunch, we decided to visit the park fronting our old house, where most of us had grown up. It was refreshing to be able to be able to clamber through the tall monkey bars again and break through the air with the swings (where we had to stand more than sit due to the low-set seats), ignoring the sign that only gave permission to 12 year-olds and below to make use of the park utilities. The park, with its unchanged playground and courts, sent a charismatic wave of nostalgia that drew us to remember images of life back in 77... when everything used to be good.
On Tuesday, Mia and I went to the mall to buy a few things we needed as it turned out that we were both trying to clean our rooms, and we were running short of space-savers. And I finally bought myself a hook rack (two even! haha) to store our jewelry. I've been struggling with several makeshift hooks made from bent paperclips until Tuesday, and now I'm glad to say we finally have an organized dresser. Haha =) Thanks for the productive day Mia. Babalikan natin lahat... I need more pillboxes. :p
The day after that, I went back to tutoring Steph for her summer finals. Inevitably, after trying to think of fitting questions for a mock long exam I agreed to make her, an annoying headache came over me and I started getting dizzy trying to practice for piano afterwards. So instead of doing so, my cousins and I decided to just continue on with fixing the old pictures again (hindi pa rin tapos!). Once we got tired of doing so, our procrastinating side came out again and we decided to put that on hold, and revive our dead informal business of selling hand-made jewelry, just like last year. Three things pushed us to revive this: 1)boredom, 2)bankruptcy, and 3)bedlam (while cleaning we found random, useless, beads scattered everywhere in the room). Hopefully, hopefully... we'll earn a little more this year.
And today, I am currently trying to finish Dan Brown's ANGELS and DEMONS. I'm past halfway into it and needless to say, it's pure genius. I was really amazed at how the author was able to infuse the sides of both science and religion in a story where everything seems so real, I find myself in vain trying to separate the facts from the claims he invented himself. Plus, it makes you think how on earth he was able to attain such believably accurate descriptions of private, places like CERN and the Vatican's secret archives. It's even better than the Da Vinci Code. ANG GALING. Seriously. I normally stray away from thick novels will little writing but this one's definitely worth the eyestrain.
Tomorrow, we're planning to end the week with a sleepover with our cousins (+ Karaoke and food! :P) and after having to wait for weeks until the end of Steph's summer lessons, I'm really looking forward to it. =)
