Sometimes I feel like time always manages to get ahead of me. Technically, I'm sixteen and just a year away from college, but that fact in itself still seems pretty superficial to me. Feeling numb after reading all the introductory pages of that Barron's SAT review book made me realize just how much I didn't feel sixteen. To heck with that, I don't even look sixteen... take this for example:

We met Joachim, mom's Arabic/Indian officemate at Sunday mass last Monday (the masses here are usually held on other days since the Muslim religion has Sunday as a weekday). Take note that I was just wearing plain jeans and a sweater. But the inevitable still had to happen a day later at the office.

Joachim: Leni, your daughter is ten years old?

Mom: Oh, no... she's sixteen.

Joachim: Sixteen???!


Ten years old??! Ay for goodness' sake... :8P

ANYWAY, we went to their zoo yesterday. It was beautiful, but it was still expanding so it's still around 3/4s of Manila Zoo as of now. Kawawa nga lang yung iba, dahil ang lungkot tingnan sa loob ng glass. The fox and the bushcat looked especially lonely... mag-isa lang kasi. Kulang na lang itugtog yung ALL BY MYSELF sa background. But other than that, the zoo was nice. I'd like to go back again next year if I get the chance.
